On the 27th May S&T Interiors & Contracting hosted their 5th annual charity golf day at the Grove Hotel, Chandler’s Cross, Watford in aid of TackleAfrica. Over £50,000 was raised for the charity on the day! It was a star studded event featuring the likes of 1978 world cup winner Ossie Ardiles as well as Alan Brazil who says the pinnacle of his footballing career was featuring for Scotland in a 5-2 win against New Zealand, where despite playing as a striker he did not get on the scoresheet.

Also in attendance were O’Neill & Brennan’s very own Daniel Elliot, Ronan McGarrigle and Jackie Murray. They attended as guests of S&T’s Operations Manager, Gerry Canavan. Gerry will be known to many O’Neill &Brennan staff from his time with Kier and hopefully this event is a signal that our working relationship will continue with S&T as they expand into main contracting which hopefully give us an opportunity to provide our recruitment services when it comes to filling the construction jobs that will be created.

As well as the golf there was also a drinks reception and dinner in the evening with lots of sports memorabilia up for grabs with proceeds going to the charity. There were pieces from all manner of different sporting icons of years gone by from Steven Gerrard to the late, great Muhammad Ali.

There is no doubt that the event was a huge success and will greatly benefit TackleAfrica’s vital work of using sport to educate young people in Africa about sexual health. The charity’s goal is to raise awareness and promote a sensible and safe approach to sexual health in a region which is home to 90% of the world’s HIV positive children.
