Our Social Value program, Constructing Futures, which is run in partnership with New Futures Network is going from strength to strength. It is important we work with individuals as early as possible to give them the opportunity to reintegrate back into society and get them settled as soon as possible.
Toni (pictured) joined our program which enabled her to complete her CSCS training as well as a traffic marshalling and an environmental and sustainability training course. This led to her being placed on VINCI’s New Victoria residential project team in Manchester. She was fully prepared to join their team in delivering one of the city’s largest residential developments and is their first female release on temporary licence (ROTL). She hadn’t any previous experience in the industry and was able to develop her skills in coordinating deliveries as a Gate/Traffic Marshall.
Toni said “I love working in construction and with the team. This opportunity I’ve been given is great and I’ve already received some fantastic experience. There were other opportunities to undertake different work roles within the prison, but I wanted to do something that would give me an opportunity for work after I released.”
Our Head of Social Value, Sasha Simmonds, commented “It’s been a great experience delivering the Constructing Futures programme with the New Victoria team. They have been exceptionally open-minded and offered some incredible opportunities. When I first met Toni at her interview inside the prison, she was very timid. It’s lovely to see her come into her own and enjoying her role within construction.”
