We recently welcomed Cavalli for a work experience placement on one of our logistics sites with St George at the Wandsworth Mills development.
The placement formed part of the Wandsworth Trailblazer Care Project, an initiative that supports care-experienced young people who are looking to begin a career in construction and gain valuable industry insight.
During the week, Cavalli worked alongside our Logistics Manager, Filip Szychowski, learning about the vital role logistics plays in keeping a construction site running safely and efficiently.
From preparing signage for future works, including hoist floors, pedestrian routes, and mandatory safety signage, to touring the site and gaining an understanding of how different trades and teams work together, the placement provided a valuable introduction to the industry.
Reflecting on the week, Filip shared:
"𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬, 𝘊𝘢𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘪 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘥 𝘢 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦, 𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘢 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘶𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺. An important message shared throughout the placement was that everyone starts somewhere, whether through an apprenticeship, work experience, or an entry-level role, and that construction offers a wide range of rewarding career paths for those willing to learn and develop.
We're proud to support initiatives such as the Wandsworth Trailblazer Care Project, helping to create opportunities for young people to explore careers in construction and gain first-hand experience of the industry.
A huge thank you to Filip for mentoring Cavalli during the week, and to Cavalli for bringing such enthusiasm and curiosity to the placement. We wish him every success in his future studies and career journey.
