Ireland will have to nearly double its targeted number of homes by 2031 to catch up with its growing population, stockbroker and financial adviser Davy has said.

The Programme for Government has pledged to build 300,000 new homes by the end of 2030. Davy has estimated that if Ireland’s population is to hit six million by 2031, close to 93,000 new units each year will have to have been built by then to catch up – amounting to over 550,000 new homes over the next six years.
