Construction of Loughrea’s new energy-efficient, enhanced fire station will begin in the coming weeks, Galway County Council has confirmed.
Burns Construction & Civil Engineering Ltd has been chosen by Galway County Council to take on the €3.4 million project which will replace the existing, half-a-century-old fire station.
The new fire station at St Lawrence’s Fields on Athenry Road will include two large bays for fire engines, one small bay fitted for a jeep or water truck, a drill yard and training rooms, as well as welfare facilities and special equipment storage.
