On Monday (27/1/2020) candidates on the Construct a Career course were invited to visit two sites as part of their training. The site visits gave the candidates first-hand experience of two very different sites in Brent and the stark contrasts between them. The candidates were starting the second week of their 2 week programme, of which they will obtain a CSCS card by the end of it and the prospect of working on a construction site close to where they live.

The day began at Knowles House, a Wates project in Harlesden, where the candidates were briefed about the site before taking a tour to gain a real insight into what a live project consists of. This project is a redevelopment which will include 92 homes for temporary accommodation and 57 for independent living.

Shortly after, a coach took all the candidates down to Wembley to visit another of Wates’ projects, E02. Everyone sat down for lunch before receiving a briefing from the Project Manager about the Wembley project.

With the candidates final day of training taking place this Friday, we are looking forward to helping them secure work afterwards and hearing about how their careers in construction progress in the future.
