Location: Oxford
Contract: 40 weeks, with potential for permanent employment
Sector: Education / Construction
Rate: Competitive CIS day rate, dependent on experience

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting an experienced Freelance Site Manager to join a well-established specialist construction contractor on a prestigious, multimillion-pound education sector project in Oxford.

The contractor has built a strong reputation for delivering specialist interior construction packages across a variety of sectors, working alongside major contractors and developers on complex projects. With a focus on quality workmanship, safety and reliable project delivery, this is an excellent opportunity to become involved in a significant development within the education sector.

The initial contract is expected to run for approximately 40 weeks, with the possibility of a permanent position for the right individual.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and coordination of site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and coordinating subcontractors and specialist trades on site.
  • Monitoring progress against the construction programme and ensuring key milestones are achieved.
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Carrying out regular quality inspections and ensuring works meet specification.
  • Coordinating labour, materials, plant and equipment to maintain productivity.
  • Liaising with the main contractor, project team and other trades to ensure effective sequencing of works.
  • Attending site meetings and providing regular progress updates.
  • Identifying potential issues and implementing solutions to minimise delays and disruption.
  • Maintaining accurate site records, RAMS and relevant project documentation.

About You

We are looking to speak with Site Managers who have a proven background in managing interior elements, ideally with experience in specialist interiors, drylining, partitioning, suspended ceilings or associated fit-out packages.

You will need to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a Site Management role.
  • A good understanding of construction sequencing and programme management.
  • The ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate multiple trades effectively.
  • A proactive approach to health and safety and quality assurance.
  • Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with clients, contractors and the wider project team.

Relevant qualifications, including SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid, will be expected.

What's on Offer?

  • An initial 40-week freelance contract.
  • Competitive CIS day rate, dependent on experience.
  • The opportunity to work on a substantial education sector development.
  • Potential for a permanent position following the initial contract.
  • The chance to establish a longer-term relationship with an established specialist contractor.

Interested?

If you are an experienced Site Manager looking for your next freelance opportunity in the Oxford area, we would be pleased to hear from you.
