Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Growing Main Contractor – West London

Salary/Package: £40,000 – £45,000 + £3,000 Car Allowance + 1 Day WFH after probation

O’Neill and Brennan are currently working with a well-established and growing main contractor who are looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in West London.

The business has an exceptionally healthy pipeline of work across residential, education and commercial projects, offering the successful candidate exposure to a diverse range of schemes and significant subcontractor packages.

This would suit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with around 2–4 years’ main contracting experience who is looking to develop their commercial experience within a supportive team. The role will provide exposure to subcontractor procurement, valuations, CVRs and commercial management, while offering guidance and development as the successful candidate takes on greater responsibility.

The company is becoming increasingly busy and would ideally like someone who is available at relatively short notice.

Role Overview:

  • Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 + circa £3,000 Car Allowance
  • WFH: 1 day per week following probation
  • Start: ASAP / Short notice preferred
  • Type: Permanent

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the commercial management of projects across a range of sectors
  • Managing and assisting with significant subcontractor packages
  • Assisting with subcontractor procurement, valuations, payments and variations
  • Preparing and contributing to monthly CVRs and commercial reporting
  • Monitoring costs and assisting with forecasting and financial reporting
  • Working closely with the wider project and commercial teams
  • Building relationships with subcontractors, consultants and project stakeholders
  • increasing ownership of commercial responsibilities as experience develops

Requirements:

  • Around 2–4 years’ experience within a main contracting environment
  • Previous main contracting experience is important
  • Some experience working with JCT contracts
  • Exposure to subcontractor valuations, procurement and commercial reporting
  • Comfortable working with a degree of autonomy, while being open to guidance and support
  • Good communication, organisation and commercial awareness
  • Residential, education or commercial experience would be beneficial
