Head of HSSQ – Galway

Job Overview:
Our client is a leading offsite construction company delivering high-quality modular and panelised building solutions. They are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of Health, Safety, Sustainability & Quality (HSSQ) to lead the strategic direction of HSSQ across the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing HSSQ strategies, management systems, assurance processes, and sustainability initiatives, while promoting a strong culture of safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement across operations and projects.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of the HSSQ Strategy, budget, and Sustainability Roadmap.
- Develop and maintain an integrated management system aligned with relevant ISO, BOPAS, EN1090, and NSAI standards.
- Provide expert HSSQ advice and support to operational, manufacturing, and project teams.
- Act as the key contact with regulatory, certification, and auditing bodies. Lead incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions, and lessons learned.
- Develop and implement robust audit, assurance, inspection, and reporting processes.
- Monitor HSSQ performance through KPIs, management reviews, and reporting.
- Lead the implementation of the HSSQ Audit Plan and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Oversee information management systems and ensure effective management of project and business information.
- Develop and maintain processes for quality inspections, testing, ITPs, ITRs, BCAR, and project quality sign-off.
- Lead sustainability initiatives, including carbon reduction, sustainability reporting, and Life Cycle Assessments.
- Manage and develop the HSSQ function, ensuring appropriate resources, training, and support are provided.
- Develop and maintain company training requirements and support the delivery of HSSQ training
- Maintain certifications and compliance requirements supporting ongoing business development.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, clients, contractors, regulatory bodies, and industry organisations.
Requirements:
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification.
- GradIOSH or higher/equivalent.
- Strong experience in Health & Safety management within the construction or manufacturing sector. Experience and/or qualifications in Quality and Sustainability.
- Strong understanding of integrated management systems and relevant ISO standards.
- Experience in Behavioural Based Safety and Occupational Health.
- Knowledge of BIM and Information Management.
- EMA qualification is desirable.
- Incident Investigation training.
- Temporary Works awareness.
- Strong leadership, communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience developing HSSQ strategies, systems, reporting, audits, and continuous improvement programmes.
