The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager to join a leading Tier 1 Main Contractor delivering a flagship, multi-year construction project in Bath.

This is a significant scheme offering long-term project security, the opportunity to work alongside an established delivery team and involvement in a technically challenging, high-profile development.

We are specifically looking for a site-based Design Manager who enjoys being closely involved with the construction process, working collaboratively with operational teams, consultants and subcontractors to ensure successful design coordination and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the design process throughout the construction phase.

• Work closely with the Project Manager, Site Management and Commercial teams to ensure design information supports the construction programme.

• Coordinate architects, structural engineers, M&E consultants and specialist subcontractors.

• Identify and resolve design clashes, technical challenges and buildability issues.

• Manage design deliverables, approvals and information release schedules.

• Chair design coordination meetings and maintain effective communication between all stakeholders.

• Ensure design compliance with contractual requirements, specifications and relevant regulations.

• Support procurement and subcontractor design development.

About You

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

• Previous experience working as a Design Manager for a Tier 1 Main Contractor.

• Experience delivering major construction schemes valued in excess of £40 million.

• Strong understanding of construction methodology, design coordination and buildability.

• Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and specialist subcontractor packages.

• The ability to work effectively within a busy, site-based construction environment.

• Excellent communication, organisation and technical problem-solving skills.

• A proactive, hands-on approach to design management.
