£50,000 - £65,000 per annum


A new opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to lead a long-term housing regeneration scheme in Newport, for a leading housing contractor.

The role will be positioned as the commercial lead on a 500-unit residential project in Newport, incorporating a mix of private residential and affordable housing. You will report direct to the Project Director.

This is a high-profile development, requiring an experienced quantity surveyor who is comfortable under pressure with excellent management skills.

The site in Newport is delivering a mix of private residential and affordable housing, incorporating a mix of houses and apartments. This is a project due to start on site imminently, therefore an ideal time to join the company and set scope for the project’s success.

Further, this role will bring exposure to high profile stakeholders and clients, with the project setting leading standards for quality within the region.

The successful candidate will have experience of commercially leading residential projects, having trained as a Quantity Surveyor. Main contractor experience is desirable though not essential. Your experience within the housing industry will be crucial as you look to provide guidance on project set-up.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Experience working for a residential contractor on projects in excess of 200 units.
  • Extensive experience of JCT contracts, including contract negotiations and project set-up.
  • Strong commercial awareness; ability to identify profitable opportunities, risk, and threats early in a project are crucial.
  • A natural and engaging communication style, demonstrating a passion and excellence for developing trusting, sustainable and robust relationships both internally and externally.
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or equivalent.
  • Member of RICS (desirable not essential).
