Senior Quantity Surveyor

Plymouth, UK


£300 - £500 per day


Senior QS - Plymouth

 An exciting opportunity has been created for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading Global Civil Engineering Main Contractor who currently operate across a variety of sectors to include Highways, Rail, Infrastructure, Maritime, Marine and Utilities.

 The role offers the opportunity to work on a Marine Project refurbishing and rebuilding jetties, bringing in new power facilities, installing navigation beacons and dredging.

Due to an increased pipeline of work, they require a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial management of projects. The successful applicant will be a driven self-motivated individual, keen to develop their role within the business.


Due to the nature of the Projects previous experience of civils packages are essential.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • External / internal valuations

  • Variations and final accounts

  • Cost Value Reports

  • Account forecasting and general costings

  • Measurement and payment of sub-contract orders

  • Resolution of contract disputes

  • Provision of feedback to the estimators



Skills and Knowledge

  • High level of commercial awareness

  • Recognition and understanding of consequences of contractual change

  • Knowledge and use of various Construction Contracts

  • In depth understanding of the business and experience in the management of construction projects

  • Ability to understand and build partnerships

  • Extensive technical construction knowledge

  • Ability to give presentations on appropriate matters


Essential Experience

  • Experience of managing commercial aspects of civil engineering contracts

  • Previous experience as a QS in the industry

  • Experience of the NEC form of contract

  • Degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering

  • Desired, but optional. Will be encouraged to undertake for progression - RICS/ICE

  • Water experience would be great, but will consider all sectors

  • High level knowledge of Excel

  • UK Driving Licence
