My client is a well-established construction company based in Uxbridge who are seeking an intelligent motivated Graduate to join their team.

With over 100 staff split between the office and our sites, they are growing company looking for a ‘Purchasing / Buying Assistant’ to come on board and help the Purchasing Manager ensure the smooth running of the purchasing department.

The perfect candidate will be able to form strong relationships with the relevant internal teams/suppliers and will understand the importance of being able to work in a fast paced, ever changing environment.

They don’t necessarily need to have worked within the construction industry previously even though it would be a bonus although an individual that is a fast learner and willing to take ownership of their own tasks is a definite must.

Experience/qualifications

  • Previous experience in materials ordering within the construction industry is a definite bonus although not a necessity.
  • IT literate and being able to understand new systems and MS applications is required
  • Strong organisation skills
  • Being able to communicate confidently with different cultures and backgrounds
  • Highly motivated
  • The candidate must be confident when it comes to dealing with individuals who can sometimes be direct as this is part of the construction business

Responsibilities

  • Learn about setting up a supply chain strategy and direction, and help manage the day-to-day performance for materials planning, procurement and inventory control
  • Help review the current procedures, with a view to identifying and implementing improvement opportunities, working collaboratively with suppliers and Purchasing Manager when it comes to costs and savings
  • Share the responsibility for the development of an efficient and effective procurement system managing inventory, supply planning, internal distribution and cost control within a variable seasonable demand on both core product, spares, consumables and supplies
