O’Neill & Brennan are currently recruiting for an Accountant on behalf of our client, a main contractor in the construction industry. The successful candidate must have minimum of 3 + years’ experience in an accounting role ideally with previous experience in a construction environment. The Accountant will join their team based in Oranmore, Co. Galway.

Accountant responsibilities Include:

• Maintaining of accounting processes and ensuring the completion of bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Responsible for monthly reporting & budget
• Maintain credit control & debt collection
• Oversee the legal audit process & prepare for year-end report
• Point of contact for internal auditors
• Maintain regular cash flow forecasts
• Maintain banking relationships taxation
• Oversee tax compliance & completion of VAT returns
• Liaise with tax advisors / authorities
• Asserting risks related to the security of means of payment
• Assisting the FC/CFO in determining and implementing the company's financial strategy
• Co-operate with management and front-line supervision in complying with legal requirements and company SHEQ standards, safety rules and safe systems of work.
• Take part and actively participate in SHEQ training

Accountant Requirements:

• Must have a Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Economics
• Qualification from Association of Chartered Certified Accountants ACCA, CIMA or ICAEW
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a financial role is required
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience using the following Microsoft Dynamics, Office suite & Power BI desired
• Knowledge of VAT & Corporate Tax
• Cash management, financial accounting (IFRS) and corporate finance competence
• Accurate & attention to detail
