Planner – Shutdown of a Refinery

One of the world’s largest and most diverse providers of professional, technical and construction services within Engineering are currently seeking an experienced Planner to join them in their project controls team to work on a refinery shutdown project in Ireland.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain the schedule for the shutdown operations
  • Ability to challenge the schedule from a quality and realism perspective
  • Interface daily with production and maintenance department personnel to review work orders for maintenance and turnaround services
  • Review and provide input on definition, accuracy and priority
  • Develop the scope of each shutdown work order
  • Lead detailed planning and scheduling and coordinate the work product of planners and track planning backlog and shutdown work orders ensuring data is current and accurate
  • Assist engineers with plant projects, technical details, and specifications
  • Make recommendations on projects such as timeline, labour requirements, work scope, and material.
  • Provide off-hour support for maintenance issues, material or service as necessary
  •  Create and maintain repetitive job plans and shutdown plans
  • Create staff level reports for scheduling, costs, resource loading
  • Provide detailed reporting in support of maintenance and shutdown cost tracking and plant key measures tracking
  • Manage contract maintenance time collection process for schedule updates
  • Lead site SAP capability by developing internal training programs and recommending outside training of plant personnel to best utilize SAP, maintenance, engineering, and planning/scheduling systems
  • Participate in audits and lead collection and presentation of maintenance key measures

Essential Criteria:

  • Proficiency within Primavera P6
  • Significant construction experience on major multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects
  • Expert planning and scheduling knowledge
  • Experience of Primavera P6 , including resource and cost loading, generating Earned Value reports as
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel: Table and Excel, MS Office and MS Project
  • Good report writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to develop programmes from first principles
  • Knowledge in Construction Management
  • Experience in rail/aviation/highways sectors
  • Good understanding of design process
  • Knowledge of NEC3 and its application to the programme
  • Good supervisory skills
