O’Neill & Brennan are currently recruiting for the position of EC&I Maintenance Technician, to join the maintenance department of a Energy from Waste facility located in Birmingham. Working directly under the Maintenance Manager the post holder will work as a member of a small maintenance team. The Maintenance Technician will play an integral part in ensuring the facility’s mechanical, electrical and controls systems are maintained and in working order to ensure maximum availability and output. The role will assist with commitment to the production of low carbon electricity as part of the wider zero carbon transition whilst delivering a high-quality engineering and operation service to the plant’s owners.

Key duties include;

• Fault finding and maintaining of plant electrical and C&I equipment
• Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices.
• Working within the company safety rules and adhering to Health, Safety and Environmental legislation at all times.
• Undertaking / assisting in plant developments & projects
• Setting to work and supervising contractors
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records on the site CMMS.
• Assist in outage planning, scheduling and coordination
• Planning day-to-day maintenance of mechanical systems.

Qualifications And Experience:  

• Electrically qualified to HNC/ONC level or equivalent with evidence of industrial/ commercial electrical work within the last 2 years
• 18th edition certified
• HV experience
• Extensive knowledge of C&I systems in particular SCADA systems
• IOSH or NEBOSH qualification - desirable.
• Full UK or EU driver’s licence
• Previous experience in an electrical role at a power generation/energy from waste/industrial process facility - essential
• Previous experience with continuous monitoring equipment
• Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation
• Experience with a permit-to-work system and also with Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) – evidence of electrical authorisation under a SSoW - essential
• Excellent communication skills and team mentality
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• The ability to remain calm under pressure.
