Trainee Land Buyer


Planning & Scheduling

£17,000 - £19,000 per annum


As a Trainee Land Buyer, you will work in an established and experienced team of Land and Development professionals for a large housing developer.  You will initially assist the Senior Land Manager in securing land opportunities in line with the companies expansion plans, and will be equipped with the expertise over time to work autonomously in a Land Buying role.

Main duties

  • Identify and appraise new land opportunities for residential development.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with local authorities, local agent, land owners and other developers within the Business Units area of operation.
  • Prepare accurate viabilities, supporting the Senior Land Manager or Land Director with acquisition strategies which will involve presenting development opportunities to senior colleagues for approval.
  • Collate build costs, sales market research, local planning policy and technical information to undertake a detailed assessment of a sites potential for development.
  • Work with the Planning Manager to obtain planning consents, discharge planning conditions and manage S106 obligations and CIL payments.
  • Work closely with the pre-construction, commercial, sales and affordable housing teams and external consultants, monitoring site progress.
  • Assist in negotiating legal agreements with lawyers and third parties.
  • Assist in preparing approval packs for the Main Board to obtain approval to proceed with land acquisitions
  • Co-ordinate meetings with internal and external teams as necessary
  • Hand sites over to the Development team for design and planning stages

You also have the opportunity to have funding to put you through a 3 year college course.
