Selfless construction workers across the country have let O’Neill & Brennan use their images in our 2017 desktop calendar in exchange for a donation to charities of their choice. After the first draft of next year’s calendar contained stock photos, the question was raised as to how it could be made more personal. Following a speculative appeal on a Facebook group we were overwhelmed by the response. Who knew that the construction industry was so full of creatives and artists?
The quality of the images we received was amazing, and it really adds something to the calendar to know that a few of the pictures were taken by people actually working in the industry. People seemed very keen to get involved and to help their charities.
The charities which have been supported as part of this initiative are;
Peace Hospice Care – providing support for people living with a life limiting illness and supports their families from across Hertfordshire. This Charity was selected by Daniel Knights, whose picture takes pride of place on the January page.
Sparkle Appeal – Supporting the Serennu Children’s Centre providing care, treatment and activities for children and young people with disabilities and developmental difficulties. Thank-you to Jeff Gwynn for bringing this charity to our attention and supplying our images for February and August.
Cancer Research UK – A charity that most people will be familiar with, Cancer Research UK fund scientists, doctors, and nurses to help beat cancer sooner. This was the charity nominated by both Marian Manda Manu and David Reilly, whose pictures take up September and November respectively.
