O’Neill & Brennan are currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Manager on behalf of our Client, an International Construction Company.
This is a Nationwide/Ireland based role; travel involved on weekly bases.
Health and Safety Manager Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate exceptional leaderships by your beliefs and behaviours.
- Assist Head of H&S in development and roll out of company Strategy.
- Ensure consistent implementation of company standards, procedures, policies, and expectations.
- Ensure workplaces are audited / risk reviewed at a frequency and with intrusiveness in accordance with Policy.
- Provide line management to applicable members of the HSE team
- Raise “at risk” / early intervention concerns to Project Managers and directors when needed.
- Ensure accidents/incidents are investigated and lessons learned communicated.
- Attend BU meetings to deliver a report on Health and Safety for the Business Unit.
- Monitor Health and Safety performance within the Business Unit and prepare appropriate reports.
- Prepare a Health and Safety report for the BU MD at applicable internals.
- Assist tender and prequalification teams where requested advising on Health and Safety submissions as well as helping provide practical solutions.
- Attend Start Up meetings with Company site teams. Where requested attend other meetings with Client and/or supply chain.
- Provide main point of contact for enforcement agencies following their visits or investigations.
- Keep up to date with legislation and interpretations thereof to facilitate the provision of competent Health and Safety advice to the business.
- Identify learning and development requirements for yourself as well as those of staff who report to you, coaching staff at all levels in Health and Safety expectations and standards.
Health and Safety Manager Requires:
- 10+ years of experience in a senior health and safety position within the construction industry - ideally in civils but not essential.
- A third level qualification in health and safety/occupational health and safety.
- Excellent written/verbal Communication, Time Management and Organisation Skills
- Experience working with lifting operations, PSDP/PSCS, Temp Works, BS 7121/IS 361, OHS/Env reporting systems.
- Experience with IT and digital technology.
- Chartered membership of IOSH would be a distinct advantage.
