O’Neill & Brennan are currently recruiting for an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Manager on behalf of our Client.   

This is a permanent role based in Ashbourne, Co. Meath.

Environmental Health and Safety Manager Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety management system to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and company policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.
  • Stay up to date with EHS regulations related to all park operations and ensure full compliance with regularly reviews and updates to policies to reflect changes in regulations.
  • Develop and manage a safety training programme for all departments including Attractions, Maintenance, Food and Beverage etc.
  • Hold the position of relationship/stakeholder manager and primary contact with the Environmental Health and Safety Authority (HSA) / Health Service Executive (HSE) in the event of communications, site visits and/or accident investigation.
  • Establish and manage an effective incident reporting and response system. Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Must have a strong ability to analyse key metrics.
  • Coordinate with HR on Return-to-Work matters and other internal policies.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, management of onsite first aid / EMT teams, and coordination with local emergency services.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections throughout the park to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Ensure that safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, AED’s, and personal protective equipment, is maintained and readily available throughout the park.
  • Review and approve safety procedures and method statements for vendors and contractors working within the park, ensuring they have appropriate training and insurance.
  • Establish effective communication channels for reporting safety concerns and incidents among staff and visitors.
  • Chair department EHS committees and collaborate with department leaders to set EHS objectives and goals.
  • Advise business stakeholders on all environmental initiatives such as waste management, electrical consumption, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Represent the company at Industry functions and Seminars

Environmental Health and Safety Manager Requires:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety / Occupational health and safety / Environmental Science, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • Proven experience in Environmental Health and Safety management
  • In-depth knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety regulations and standards within the Republic of Ireland
  • IT proficiency in the Microsoft suite of software with skills in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and training skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
