Housebuilding activity dipped again in May, in further bad news for efforts to boost desperately needed supply.

A recovery in the construction sector in May from the previous month was focused on commercial work, including office and industrial, but Irish construction companies posted a second consecutive monthly fall in housing activity during the month, AIB's regular PMI survey shows.

The rate of decline was sharp and accelerated to the fastest since October last year, the survey found.
