The drive to speed up delivery of social housing in Louth just moved up a gear as new reforms to cut delays on housing projects were announced this week.

A major shift in how new social housing developments are delivered was announced by government, with all new proposals for new‑build social housing projects up to €200 million moving to a “single approval process” from January 2026.

Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne TD confirmed that the new system will also introduce standardised design and specifications across all projects.
