Fears are growing that the new €2.24bn National Children’s Hospital may not be fully open to patients until 2027 after it emerged yesterday that the latest timeline for completion of the construction will be missed again.
David Gunning, chief of the National Paediatric Hospital Development Board (NPHDB), confirmed in a letter to the Public Accounts Committee that the November 24 date for completion will not be met, the 16th time the deadline has been missed, and he blamed the builder BAM for not having enough workers on site.
