Construction Projects in Ireland 2024

  • Construction output in Ireland forecast to grow by 4.4% in 2024, strongest growth amongst 19 European Countries

  • Non-residential sector will grow by 2.6%

Cork City Docklands Project

This project will see the development of new roads, bridges, flood defences, transportation systems and public amenities to service large-scale residential construction projects. It has been approved for €471m in funding in what will be Ireland’s largest ever regeneration project. The project is set to be delivered by 2030.

Dart+

DART network is set to grow from its current 50km in length to over 150km. The DART+ Programme will deliver frequent, modern, electrified services within the Greater Dublin Area and will improve connectivity to regional towns and cities.

N2 Slane Bypass

Development of the N2 Slane Bypass and Public Realm Enhancement Scheme to improve road safety along the N2 through Slane village. This multi-modal transport solution addresses a range of transport needs for the local community, businesses & visitors and allow the village to grow without the current levels of vehicular congestion.

Arklow Flood Relief

Part of the government’s €1.3bn investment in flood relief measures under the National Development Plan. It will include engineering works along the Avoca River and surrounds to mitigate the risk of flooding, protecting residential & non-residential properties and infrastructural utility services in the Arklow town area. The Arklow Flood Relief scheme also aims to improve the health and safety of the community in high flood-risk areas through direct protection from flooding and through reduction of stress and anxiety.

Regional Biosolids Storage Facility

The Regional Biosolids Storage Facility will serve the biosolids storage needs for greater Dublin. It will support the upgrade of the Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant and the development of the Greater Dublin Drainage project. The site will comprise of two storage buildings, like modern industrial warehouses, and an administration building within a landscaped site.

Naas General Hospital, New Acute Mental Health Unit (Lakeview)

This project will see the construction of a new Acute MH unit which consists of 50 beds. Within those 50 beds will be 9 Intensive Care Beds and will replace the existing facility which consists of a 30-bed unit. Development of the new unit is a high priority for the HSE’s mental health service division.

Cork University Business School (CUBS)

UCC is developing a custom-built 17,000m2 Business School building in Cork City Centre. The new building will house classes and lectures delivered by UCC’s new Business School Cork University Business School (CUBS). When complete the building will be able to facilitate over 4,500 students and 225 staff.

Crawford Art Gallery

This project looks to address structural and spatial issues at Crawford Art Gallery through the creation of a new fit for purpose set of galleries and complementary facilities. An integration of the art gallery with the wider urban regeneration initiative at Opera Lane and the creation of a cultural plaza is also apart of the plan.
