A NEW fundraising campaign has been launched to save one of Ireland's best known cathedrals as construction industry inflation of a whopping 50pc plus since 2020 has undermined previous restoration funds.
A special “Raise The Roof” fundraiser to repair the ageing roof of the 1865 building garnered an impressive €1m several years ago.
However, soaring inflation within Ireland's construction sector both in terms of material and labour costs has hit the refurbishment campaign.
