Construction work has begun on phase two of the Port Access Northern Cross Route (PANCR) which will run from Newtown Cross to short of the railway track behind Aston Village.
This will result in the installation of a new roundabout at the Cross and part of the original road to Sandpit near the new cemetery will become a cul-de-sac.
There was some disquiet in the locality that a number of trees at Newton Woods were removed last week to facilitate the roadworks.
