Wexford County Council (WCC) has said it hopes to have “diggers on site” at The Lyre by early 2027 as it proceeds with a scheme which will see 92 houses delivered for the area. Speaking at the January meeting of the Enniscorthy Municipal District (EMD) county architect Shay Howell said the houses would be a even mix of social and affordable and that the consultants would be appointed this year.
In further good news for the district, Mr Howell confirmed that the council is ready to start working on a much-delayed housing development in Bunclody as soon as the land is transferred into its ownership. Initially part of a Public Private Partnership (PPP) Programme with councils in Dublin, Galway, and Limerick, the Bunclody 65-unit scheme has stalled since it was first announced in 2023 with the original plans now unlikely to proceed.
