Cllr Marie Casserly has welcomed the announcement by Sligo County Council that the Part 8 planning process for the proposed Emergency Works Scheme at Strandhill will commence on July 1.

The proposed scheme will see the placement of rock armour along a 90-metre section of the upper foreshore north of the promenade, helping to protect one of the most vulnerable stretches of coastline from further erosion.

Welcoming the news that the planning process for the emergency works is set to commence this week, Cllr Casserly said, “I warmly welcome this important step forward for Strandhill. Coastal erosion has been a growing concern for our community, and it is encouraging to see progress being made towards delivering emergency protection works that will help safeguard this section of our coastline.”
