Procurement Guidance to Reduce Embodied Carbon in Construction
The government has provided procurement guidance to public bodies, which aims to reduce the embodied carbon un publicly supported construction projects. As of September 1st 2024 new projects will need to specify low carbon construction methods and low carbon cement material as far as practicable for directly procured and supported construction projects.
New Guinness Brewery to Create 1,000 Jobs
Construction on the new Guinness brewery in Kildare commenced with a sod-turning ceremony on the site this week. The €200 million brewery is expected to be open in 2026, having been pushed back due to case in the High-Court. The carbon-neutral facility will create 1,000 jobs during the construction period.
