250,000 New Homes

New Fine Gael leader Simon Harris has pledged to build 250,000 between 2025 and 2030. Mr. Harris has also stated that this would not be a smooth delivery of 50,000 homes per year and it could take time to ramp up capacity. The incoming Taoiseach agrees with former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar that 50,000 homes won’t be built every year, but if Fine Gael is re-elected next year there will be a likely backloading elements where more homes are built in the latter part of the 5-year window.

Ireland’s Largest Offshore Wind Farm

Consisting between 60 and 75 turbines, Codling Wind Park is set to become Ireland’s Largest Offshore Wind Farm. Located approximately 13km – 22km off the coast of Wicklow it’s expected that the wind project will generate 1,300 megawatts of clean electricity (enough for over 1 million homes).  During the Construction phase of the project over 1,000 jobs will be created. Construction is expected to begin in either 2026 or 2027.
