Metrolink Concerns
An Bord Pleanála has heard concerns from residences living in the area of the planned Charlemount Metrolink station terminal. Residents from the area voiced their concerns with regards to the planning of the station, how the works are excessive for the Dartmouth Square and how proposed works at Charlemount could damage buildings within the area. An Bord Pleanála also heard evidence from the impact assessment which highlighted that there was an omission from the plans of a new building being constructed along the line and its possible impact the Cadenza Building and Aercap House.
Glenveagh Homes
Housebuilder Glenveagh said it will deliver nearly 3,000 homes this year. This is despite a slow earnings growth for 2023 but the demand for housing has boosted the developer. 2023 saw 1,328 suburban units completed. Glenveagh says that they are operating in a more favorable planning environment and that resolving issues in the planning system will be key to further residential activity.
Limerick City Development
With the Limerick City Development project reaching the mid-way point, works have begun on One Opera Square. One Opera Square is a six-storey building which will provide office space for 1,000 employees. This building is being developed by Treaty Stone Partnership DAC at a cost of €80 million.
Cork Residential Development
Construction of more than 1,000 homes is set to begin in the second half of this year, Glenveagh has said. The site for the planned works is the former Live at the Marquee venue. The go ahead for the project was given in 2021. The five-hectare site will see the construction of 12 apartment blocks, with some being 14 storeys high.
Meath Broadband Network
National Broadband Ireland has announced that construction has begun to bring high speed broadband to over 3,700 homes, farms and businesses in Meath. Under the National Broadband Plan, Meath will see an investment of €76 million in new high speed fibre network spanning 21,000 premises.
