Fianna Fáil Senator, Fiona O’Loughlin has welcomed €25,739,499 of investment in regional and national roads across Kildare, and has particularly welcomed news that the Dept of transport have approved the business case for a second bridge in Newbridge.
Today (February 18 2026) €200,000 was allocated by Minister Darragh O`Brien to progress the design and develop the construction contract documents for the second bridge in 2026, with construction likely to commence in 2027 following a procurement process.
The funding comes as part of an overall funding package of €1.5 billion announced today by Minister O’Brien.
