Wates Building Futures programme ran for two weeks at the St Peters School project in Bournemouth in April 2016.  The first week of the programme was based on trade taster sessions and took place at Beaufort Community Centre.

The second week involved  some different activities including a scheduled site visit day, a mock interview day and a community project day.  O'Neill and Brennan's Ian Richardson supported the event by helping with mock interviews with the 15 candidates.

The 15 candidates were exposed to different aspects of working in construction, gaining valuable experience and also being put through their HS&E test to attain their CSCS Cards. We're confident in the near future that O'Neill and Brennan will be able to place these candidates on Wates projects and other projects with our clients giving them a sound starting point for a career in construction.

'Since 2005, we have supported more than 850 people through our ‘Building Futures’ programme – a two-week QCF accredited course that we run in partnership with Ixion Holdings a not-for-profit training organisation. The course provides people with the skills they need to move between unemployment and a job. Of those who have participated in ‘Building Futures,’ 55% have moved into employment, education or further training.'
